2009_11_dreidel.jpgThe first ever “professional” dreidel league will host its debut matches in Williamsburg on Dec. 12 — the second day of Hanukkah.  Call the Knitting Factory for specifics.  This is way too much excitement for the goodegg, but congrats to those that have taken the time to  perfect this crazy top-spinning game.

Not sure how I feel about the winner being paid in chocolate money.

Big sr. recital week in Bloomington, Indiana. Stop by for champagne and graduation cheer.

Enjoy the New York Philharmonic on Wednesday.

Also on this day:  Woody Allen is 74, Golfer Lee Trevino is 70.  Rock singer-musician Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult) is 65. Rock musician John Densmore (The Doors) is 65. Actress-singer Bette Midler is 64

and

in 1944,  Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra was premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Serge Koussevitzky.

Thanksgiving week in New York with family and friends is what it’s all about. We have so much to be thankful for, and so many things to look forward to in 2010. If you’re in NY, check out W. Dafoe in “Idiot Savant”, the Madeline Albright pin collection at MAD, or new restaurant, “Recipe” on 82nd and Amsterdam. Thanks to Langhorne(check out link below from recent recording for Baeble) for putting on a spectacular show not only for the Goodegg family, but for “Grandma Ruth” who had a priceless grin on her face the whole evening.

Velvet Underground Reunion

The Velvet Underground is reuniting! Well — sort of. Velvet alums Lou Reed, drummer Maureen “Moe” Tucker, and bassist Doug Yule are getting together at the New York Public Library on December 8th at 7 p.m. to “talk about the band’s history and legacy” with Rolling Stone’s David Fricke. No musical performance is planned. It’s already sold out, but NYPL says that there still may be some tickets available at the door. Could be worth a drive up to Manhattan.

Perhaps this is a precursor to some sort of reunion performances or tour? They’d certainly have to get John Cale involved, and they’d have to find a replacement for guitarist Sterling Morrison, who died in 1995. Maybe Dean Wareham would do it? Stay tuned…

Adios

For those of you that know Dr. Klickner’s younger brother Joe, please send positive thoughts his way as he is going through a medical nightmare this weekend. Life can be so damn cruel and unfair sometimes.

Our favorite race car driving chef, Chef Weber, served up delicious Elk(for those that eat that kind of thang) and Vindaloo shrimp at the annual Vince Lombardi shindig Friday night. Happy Birthday, Mark.

Looks like planet Pluto is a new destination. I’m having a hard enough time getting to Singapore for the opening of Marina Bay Sands. Let’s hear it for NASA and their relentless discoveries beyond planet earth.
